Nicolaus Hanowski holds a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences. He started as a researcher in the US and then transferred to Mission Operations at the German Space Operations Centre. He joined ESA to become responsible for the development of Science Ground Segments for Space Science Missions. Since 2014 he assures the Operations, Ground Segments and Data Management of the ESA Earth Observation Missions, Copernicus Sentinel satellites and ESA Digital Twins of the Earth. In 2025 he also served as interim Chief Digital Information Officer of ESA.

Uwe Marquard joined the Deutsche Telekom Research Centre in 1995 after graduating from the Technical University Darmstadt with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He has held different management positions both within Germany and internationally, including assignments in Singapore and Switzerland. Currently, he serves as Director of Space Programs at Deutsche Telekom, overseeing strategic initiatives in European programs like Galileo and Copernicus. He has more than 15 years of experience in the space sector and is responsible for the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem contract with European Space Agency. His work bridges industry and space agency collaborations, driving innovation in digital infrastructure for Earth observation.
