This session explores how the combination of Deutsche Telekom’s trusted, mobile network capabilities with Google’s Firebase ecosystem of 4M app developers enables secure, scalable, and frictionless phone number verification across a wide range of digital services.

User onboarding remains one of the most critical and conversion-sensitive moments in digital customer journeys. Traditional SMS one-time passcodes introduce latency, user drop-off, security vulnerabilities such as phishing and SMS pumping, and rising operational costs. Silent Network Authentication (SNA) only works over the cellular data connection, resulting in up to 50% failure rates in real world deployments. Firebase Phone Number Verification fundamentally redefines this experience by enabling one-tap phone number sharing without SMS or manual code entry, allowing verification within seconds and working seamlessly across both cellular and Wi-Fi connections. Phone numbers are securely retrieved directly from the carrier via Network APIs, eliminating common attacks used on SMS.
